From Narcissus, to Queen Grimhilde, to Lacan, humans have long had an obsession with mirrors. Mirrors are prevalent in both myths and metaphors as well as in our material, physical history. This video from The History Guy: History Deserves to Be Remembered details the story of the mirror throughout human history. I didn’t realize that it wasn’t until glassblowing techniques were developed that manufacturing mirrors from glass became possible, as earlier glass was more thick and opaque.
